About Mountains Tales
My name is Sue Collins, and I’m the proud owner and operator of Mountains Tales, a local Blue Mountains business. I have a deep love for the Blue Mountains, and I’m excited to share its stories with both locals and visitors.
I have a passion for Australian history stories, and this enthusiasm has motivated me to establish a range of village walking tours. Come join me, and together we can delve into the captivating narratives of the Leura Story, Katoomba Story, and the Mt Victoria Story.
Mountains Tales has expanded its offerings to include Coach Commentary Tours catering to diverse coach groups visiting the Blue Mountains. Whether it’s for Conferences and Events, Social Groups, or Educational Tours, we’ve got you covered.
With experience in the corporate realm in Sydney, specifically in Sales and HR, I comprehend the elements essential for a thriving corporate getaway – time to chill, form connections, learn and have fun and laughter along the way.
The Social Group Day Trips I organize are consistently filled with laughter. Regardless of how frequently you’ve explored the Blue Mountains, there’s always an abundance of stories waiting to be discovered and enjoyed, ensuring a day trip that’s truly unforgettable.
Revisiting my childhood experiences and discovering the colonial stories of Sydney, our Educational Tours delve into our not-so-distant colonial past. Focused on stage 2 and 3 students, within the framework of the Australian History Key Learning Area (KLA), our program involves storytelling and role play, transforming the breathtaking landscapes of the Blue Mountains into an immersive classroom.
Within my tours, I not only recount the captivating tales of the Blue Mountains but also offer a glimpse into my own story. My deep love for community and personal commitment extends to serving as an SES volunteer, responding to the community’s needs in times of crisis. Additionally, I hold the role of coordinator for ANZAC Day services in Leura and actively participate in both Leura and Blue Mountains heritage committees.
With my background as a certified adult educator, I am confident that participants in my tours will acquire enhanced knowledge and comprehension of the Blue Mountains. Come join me on this journey, and I am certain you’ll develop a profound appreciation for the beauty and history of the Blue Mountains as well.

There's nothing nicer than a sunny Leura morning, and a tour with Sue from Mountains Tales. Sue knows so much about Blue Mountains History that you will learn something new whether you are up visiting for the weekend, or a local. Sue is very welcoming and friendly and gives you plenty of opportunities to say "I know the answer to that!" 😂😆which is always nice! Thank you Sue for a lovely tour. Now I just need to take the Katoomba tour for the trifecta.Posted on Lyn DennisrecommendsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Facebook. We booked Sue’s walking tours of Leura and Katoomba on the same day (morning and afternoon). My friend from California is interested in nature and history, so Sue’s walks were a perfect choice. We were not disappointed. Sue has a deep knowledge and enthusiasm for the Blue Mountains and, as a resident of the mountains for 50 years, I learned so much from Sue’s tour. I have family history in the Blue Mountains; My great-uncle, George James, was Katoomba’s Mayor on several occasions in the early 1900’s and my grandfather, was Assistant Stationmaster of Katoomba Station. Sue was able to show me the home that George James built, named Froma, of which I was unaware and I was able to show her where my Grandparents and Mum lived, opposite The Carrington. What a day we had. Thank you so much Sue for THE most interesting, educational and informative day. What a vast knowledge and research, photos, explanations and genuine enthusiasm you have and are willing to share. Our day exceeded all expectations and my Californian friend and I left with more questions to research. Mount Irvine, Mount Wilson and Yosemite. These names must share a common link between the Blue Mountains and California. We will find out by our own research and discovery. Thank you Sue for a memorable day.Posted on Mickey HeitrecommendsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Facebook.
