How did Katoomba transform from a small coal mining village to the HONEYMOON CAPITAL OF AUSTRALIA, and the PLAYGROUND OF THE COMMONWEALTH?

Join Mountains Tales for a 2-hour walk through the history and Story of Katoomba. We discuss Katoomba’s early history from the late 1800’s, to the beginning of World War Two, examining the first 50 years of the town’s history.

Through the growth of Federation tourism until World War One; to the Boom of the 1920’s and 1930’s when Katoomba was Australia’s Honeymoon capital.

Katoomba has always served as a holiday destination. On this tour, we delve into the variety of those who visited, their activities, accommodations, and the enduring legacy they left behind.

Our tours offer an intimate experience, limited to a maximum group size of 15. Feel free to bring your leashed four-legged companions along on the tour – our two whippets have bestowed a glowing 5-paw rating!

Even if the day is offering “Mountains Weather” our tour will operate. Remember to bring a jacket or umbrella and relish the invigorating mountain air!

Whether you are a mountains local or are a visitor to our backyard, you’re sure to relish an entertaining and informative walk.
